Our Primary Target
Our target is vulnerable children, child-headed households,
low-income families, community members in need of emergency help to put food on the
table. Eighty percent (80%) of those served by these programs are children. We envisage
an increase in the number of children who need services from Vision of Love during
the next five years. Thabazimbi is a mining area and a number of new families are
entering the area to look for employment. It is estimated that the population of
Thabazimbi will increase to 122 590 by 2025, due to the influx of people staying
in informal settlements. Our services are aimed at improving the ability of families
to care for children and achieve goals of self-sufficiency. Vision of Love’s services are
a small investment in comparison to cost of ignoring the problem of hunger in South
Africa and the influence it has on a number of health and crime issues.
Our Background
Vision of Love (also known as VOL) is an independent registered non profit humanitarian
community service project initiated by Royalty Baptist Church based in Regorogile
township, Thabazimbi, South Africa. Thabazimbi is located in the South-Western part
of the Limpopo Province, South Africa. It’s a mere two (2) hour drive from the Capital
City of South Africa, Pretoria. Cattle ranching, Game farming, Tourism, Platinum
and Iron Ore mining are the major contributors to the economy of the region. Thabazimbi
has a population of 85000, with 25000 households (25% are female headed households)
and is mostly surrounded by informal settlements. This are rural settlements with
a large of residents originating from surrounding farms, who stays in shacks . There
are a number of child-headed households in this area. Since the closure of Iron Ore
mine in Thabazimbi, the unemployment rate has increased drastically.
Our Vision
Vision of Love exists to enhance the life of every citizen of Thabazimbi through
the gift of Love by delivering humanitarian services; resulting in a better quality
of life, which every human being deserves.
Our Mission
The mission of Vision of Love is to alleviate hunger by feeding hungry and child-headed
households, as well as provide opportunities for health care and counseling to the
senior citizens and HIV/AIDS infected, living in and around Thabazimbi. Our services
include feeding scheme, HIV/AIDS home based care, food parcels and health care for
senior citizens, bereavements services for needy families and counseling programs.
