Vision of Love has initiated Soup Kitchen project for the primary purpose of feeding hungry and needy children living in and around informal settlements in Thabazimbi. The project is known as VOL Soup Kitchen. The main objective of this project is to make sure that ‘no child deserves to go to bed hungry’ and One-Child-At-Time, we’re making a difference.

Senior Citizens Program

Most of Senior Citizens depend on the government pension grants to provide for their basic needs while they have taken up the role of parents to their grandchildren. Growing old can become old at times; as a result, Vision of Love has partnered with established local senior citizens organization around the Thabazimbi area.

Our services includes amongst others:

Feeding ±250 vulnerable kids weekly through donations from the local farmers (i.e. donations of vegetables and fruits), local stores (i.e. donations of expiry products) and individuals from the church and community (i.e. donations of non perishables and clothes).
Low-income families and child-headed families, who need emergency help to put food on the table, are also helped by this program. Nearly 80% of the people we serve are children and nearly 10% are senior citizens.
Assist school children with home works.
Organize children’s Christmas party (December) and Mandela Day (July) annually, whereby we distribute toys, food parcels, school bags (inclusive of uniform and shoes) to the vulnerable children; and Sanitary pads to the needy girl-children.

Our services includes amongst others:

Health Care (a team of volunteers - doctors and nurses to monitor senior citizens health and well beings),
Supply Free Nutritious meals,
Participation in bodily exercise,
Extra-mural activities (i.e. motivational talks, gardening projects, association with other senior citizens from other regions).
Supply blankets (during winter seasons),
Organize senior citizens day (annually)
